MAINTAINING LUSH GARDENS DURING SEVERE DROUGHT
In 2016 severe drought conditions meant a ban on all irrigation of hotel green spaces. In order to protect their beautiful beachfront ecosystem the Coral Reef Hotel initiated the installation of the first ever water recycling plant in Barbados.
Ecohesion took over the operation and maintenance of the hotel in 2013 and through the use of their membrane filtration products, have since treated and recycled 29 million gallons of combined wastewater into drip-irrigation reuse water.
Instead of using alternate technologies, which only treat wastewater to make it disposable to wells, Ecohesion’s membrane filtration products and the associated high-level wastewater treatment, enabled savings of over BBD $380,000 on Coral Reef’s water bill.
